Before I even set off for the venue I saw on my twitter feed that the gig had sold out, which suggested I was going to be in for a good night. Kicking off the night was American post-hardcore band Letlive. Front-man Jason Butler certainly knew how to get the crowd going. As the lights dimmed and they ran out on stage the crowd started screaming, Butler is known for being energetic and last night was no different, he was bouncing around the stage looking like he was enjoying every second of it. Letlive had created an amazing vibe and the crowd kept the vibe going throughout the rest of the night. Next up was Your Demise who are a UK hardcore band, I would definitely say they were the heaviest band of the night. You wouldn't have expected them to come onto the stage to a Beyonce track! All of the band were jumping about the stage with raw energy along to their catchy drum beats. Debatably, they are better live than their recordings. Watch out for this band because I think we're going to see a lot of good things from them over the next few years. Finally, Enter Shikari, a British band from Hertfordshire, who formed in 2003. I've seen them a few times at festivals, but I honestly think that they were absolutely amazing in a venue like O2 Academy. As the lads went on stage the crowd were chanting "Shikari" which caused such a buzz in the room, Rou Reynolds who's the front-man, was constantly moving around the stage and jumping into the crowd. Special effects were used such as big gusts of smoke blown over the crowd and suddenly I saw people from the sides of the room at the bar running to jump into the pits, the areas where the smoke was covering. They played new songs as well as their classics such as ‘No Sssweat’ and the crowd just thrived off every song the band performed. Their set was closed with their best known song ‘Sorry You're Not a Winner" which everyone in the crowd was getting involved in. Enter Shikari have always been a favourite for me, they put so much talent and effort in each piece of music they produce, keeping their old fans whilst gaining new ones. If you do get to see them whilst they are touring then boy, are you in for a treat!
